There have been multiple reports of Blue-Green Algae on lakes across Haliburton County this month. Although no sightings have been reported on Raven Lake,  the Coalition of Haliburton Property Owners Association has provided information about what to look for and what to do if you see any. Total Fire Ban now in effect for all of Haliburton County

The Fire Chiefs of Haliburton County have issued a Total Fire Ban which will encompass the entire area of Haliburton County (Municipality of Dysart et al, Township of Minden Hills, Township of Algonquin Highlands and Township of Highlands East).

Effective immediately Haliburton County is under a total fire ban. Dry condition, high heat, and the lack of forecasted precipitation has led to an extreme fire risk. All permits are cancelled, all open fires and campfires are prohibited during the fire ban.

If you have questions or concerns please contact

Good news.  The latest issue of the Minden Times reports that the Algonquin Highlands council  has fixed a  tax rate (for AH, County and education) that is only a 0.5% increase over last year.
